We had mentioned in the past how beautiful Liv likes to wear a fragrance to make herself identifiable with, but now it turns out she has had a collection since her teenager years. Her newest comments also hint at her ...disloyalty to her "assigned fragrance", if you read between the lines that is.
According to Movie NTDT the 34-year old actress, famous for her "Lord of the Rings" Arwen portrayal, still keeps the fragrance bottles she liked as a teenager and can't bring herself to throw any of them because of the memories of those times they trigger for her. "I have a collection of fragrances I've had since I was a teenager -I don't wear them, I just smell them for the memories. I wear Very irresistible -it's delicious- but I think it smells better on my grandmother. Every time I see her I say "You smell so good" and she says "Very Irresistible".

Frequent Questions: How & Where to Apply Perfume Effectively
How do you apply your perfume? Do you spritz on neck and wrists? Do you spray a cloud and walk through the mist? Do you dab from an old style splash bottle? Is there a wrong way to apply perfume? The method of application influences the way a fragrance smells and projects into the environment much more than what is called "body chemistry". Let's do some myth busting on this proper perfume application guide and suggest new and exciting ways to maximize your chosen perfume's potential, helping it expand at the pace you're comfortable with and last through the day.
Let's start with the most common myth: That perfume smells best on pulse points, specifically the wrists and behind the ears. Though it's a nice spot to bring up to your nose gingerly, you might be doing yourself a disservice. According to renowed perfumer Jean Claude Ellena (current in-house perfumer for Hermès) the Ph of the skin on the inside of the wrists can be a bit acidic/sour, thus subtly swifting the aroma of your fragrance. Lanvin Avant Garde pour Homme: new fragrance
Lanvin, a fashion house with an illustrious history in perfume releases, is issuing a new masculine fragrance, called Avant Garde.
"A woody, spicy and orientalised composition" developed by perfumer Shyamala Maisondieu (who's working at aroma-producing firm Givaudan) to be available in Eau de Toilette (50ml/1.7oz for 48 euros, 100ml/3.4oz for 70 euros and also in deodorant (18 euros). According to the perfumer: "The world that I’ve created for Avant Garde combines noble raw materials like vetiver and benzoin, with other surprising materials such as beeswax and tobacco. The spices? I have always loved working with them because you have to be able to handle them carefully to find the right amount, the right strength, of freshness, so that it is both spicy and incisive. I also played with a unique and powerful innovative note: Georgywood. This raw material, developed using the very latest technology, has woody amber tones which chime perfectly with the fragrance’s manly architecture”. Other notes include: Italian bergamot, Madagascar pepper, pink pepper and juniper, lavender, nutmeg, cardamom and beeswax absolute.
The new masculine cologne by parfums Lanvin will launch in February (it's online at the official Lanvin Parfums site).

Kristen Stewart for Balenciaga perfumes: new face for new perfume
Now you can smell like Bella Swan! Apart from the Twilight fragrance hot off the merchandising conveyor belt of the popular saga, Twilight leading lady Kristen Stewart has signed on to be the face of Balenciaga’s upcoming fragrance for women, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
Details on the scent have yet to be announced, but rumours want it to hit stores in autumn 2012.
The young actress's rock chic favourite look certainly bodes well with the individual and elegantly apart style of Balenciaga perfumes.
It remains to be seen how best they will use her and what the aimed demographic will be (hopefully larger and more mature than Twilight).

Serge Lutens News: An Export Fragrance Becomes a Paris Exclusive
Serge Lutens is doing everything he can to tilt us out of our expectations and into a frantic pace to keep up with his Paris exclusives. We had discussed how there were plans to remove a few of the export scents to the Paris exclusive line two seasons ago: despite Chypre Rouge being a slow seller it never made it there, though Miel de Bois most certainly did as we had announced on these pages.
The most extraordinary development however is the just-of-this-minute delegation of a rather popular and "easy" export into the Paris exclusives in the bell jars. Guess what that is?
It's Rousse, tagged with the adjective "racy"!
One wonders whether it's because of the spice contient that it needed a less mainstream distribution, but I think that the Paris exclusive line mostly needed some rejogging now that many of the gems have circulated in the export collection already as limited editions. Plus Rousse is rather a slow seller, comparatively, not praised enough.
