  9. Thanks for the giveaway! My latest love is Jour d'Hermes. I have used up several samples and bought myself a bottle the other day! Lucky me!

  10. I recently discovered Tabac Blond extrait. Everyone complains the new stuff isn't as good, but I like it quite a lot. Caron has not mangled everything in their reformulations.

Long time lurker, first time commenter! The lure of a giveaway is too powerful to ignore. I've recently discovered Neela Vermeire, and committed part of the spring bonus money to a full bottle of Trayee. I've also been enjoying Musc Bleu as the weather warms up here in the lower Midwest USA.

all of a sudden Esprit d'Oscar became really cheap in Holland. So I took a sniff and fell in love - what a beauteous scent that is - rich and elegant and exuding savoir-vivre. 'Very Oscar' I suppose. Now imagine I would win the goody-bag ;-) I would be over the moon...

  16. Tom Ford Noir, seems to be marketed to men, but I couldn't care less! cherish my sample.

On the other hand, the latest YSL, violet something, I had to run home to scrub, ugh!

  18. I rediscovered Kenzo Jungle this winter and fell in love all over again. I disliked (massive distaste that is) Vanille Incensee by AC. I tried it at Sephora and it was a big mistake for me and my skin :(

  19. I discovered Vera Wang "bejewled". Also, D&G "The One" & "L'eau The One". I need to put myself on a no-buy for awhile!

  20. Oh yes! A giveaway! <3

I've received a lot of samples from friends all over the world recently, but the latest package was from another giveaway actually... I recieved a small bottle of spikenard diluted in sweet almond oil and it just smells so divine! I love spikenard!

My latest love is Osmanthus Interdite by Parfums d'Empire. I have a generous sample and it keeps growing on me. I love how it opens delicately and then a dark undercurrents shows up. FB material, methinks!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  22. New discovery: Vintage Krasnaya Moskva (Red Moscow). As I was carefully removing the "onion skin" paper and thread I was greeted by the most intense, spicy floral! On skin its strong and beautiful! Love the part where it smells like Sat Sai Baba NagChampa incense.. with a hint of Oscar!
Rediscovery: vintage Shalimar. Hadn't worn in a long time. Can't figure out why I did that!?
Dislike: Sickly sweet, totally boring and forgettable fragrances too numerous to mention. (Why are there so many of them?)

  23. how great!
recently i found out i can not longer find to purchase Armani white for men, except for ebay. A great fragrance from 2001, a "summer night club" feel. Sadly it's discontinued. I wish Armani relaunches it.
    Is that a rediscovery?

Our local perfumery has a variety of single note scents. I've never found a perfume with peach that I like but I LOVE the single note peach scent. Sometimes it is nice have something simple and pretty to add into the mix.

Thanks for the generous draw opportunity:-)

Latest scented discovery: Gap's "Night Fall Bath Oil" puts me in mind of an old Lush scent but, having just used it tonight, I'm jiggered if I can put a name to the Lush scent! (If anyone knows what I'm thinking of, please put me straight so I can spare the little grey cells the strain that is otherwise coming.)

Latest scented rediscovery: how much I love the scent of Annick Goutal's "Musc Nomade" body cream.

    cheerio, Anna in Edinburgh

  28. Fell in love with three scents:

    - Mancera - Roses Vanille (about Mancera I like the authencity of the arabian touch and the value for money ratio)
    - Sooud - Nur (great scent but the durability is very low)
    - Clive Christian - V (deep and luxurious and of course expensive)

  29. My latest scent discovery is Gucci Accenti. I had tried it when I was first getting into perfumes and was not impressed, but lately I tried it again and am really having fun with it!

    ReplyDelete
  30. My latest discovery is that I don't hate rose when it's part of Serge Luten's Santal Majuscule- which I love. What a revelation! I was prepared to hate rose notes (not the actual flower) for the rest of my life but it looks like I'll have to revise that prejudice. Thanks for the giveaway!

  31. Viktor + Rolf's Spicebomb for me. It took me a few days to warm up to on the scent strip, but I am quite fond of it now. Treated myself to a full bottle for my birthday.

My latest discoveries are Sycomore & Bois des Iles. I like both of them, but longevity is a problem. Sycomore lasts about 45 minutes. Bois des Iles lasts longer, but not long enough to suit me. Also, a generous perfume blogger sent me some vintage La Rose Jacqueminot and I then had fun comparing that against three strengths of vintage Chypre. During this exercise, I discovered the commonalities shared by the two fragrances. Too bad Coty doesn't honor its past with good quality perfume anymore.

Latest discovery is Gothic II by Loree Rodkin. Love that nag champa smell! So on the fb list..
Rediscovery is Rumba. Was by Balenciaga now by Ted Lapidus. Wouldn't mind re-sniffing the original.
Latest dislike. Hmm..so many..didn't think much of the new Balenciaga rose flanker, I quite liked the first two.

  37. My most recent re-discovery is Eau d'Hermes. I found an inexpensive bottle on eBay and bought it on instinct--I hadn't smelled it in years. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by its smoothe rich character. So much is made of its skanky, animalic character, but I find it quite wearable. Perhaps that, in part, is because I am not a middle-aged man who wears contrast collar shirts (as Luca Turin warns against)!
    Thank you for the draw!

Sadly, it's not a perfume - went into the city for the first time in ages, mostly living on the outer edge of he suburbs & having been even further out for holiday - goodness the place is dusty & stuffy & one can feel the crap entering one's system.

Whereas being out in the country is always cleansing - especially when we went for a walk in a fern gully, all damp & muddy amongst the tree ferns & giant gums...

  62. my latest discovery is "jour d'Hermes" but it's only "like" not love..
thanks a lot for the draw and for making it international

  63. Dislike: Bal á Versaillles reform. edt Sharp and pungent and dries down to a powdery mess. So unlike the vintage edp, which is rich, exotic and sexy.

Dislike: Rose 31. How can you call it by that name when theres no rose in sight? Not even a trace or rose to be smelled. A more appropriate name would have been Spicebomb or Spice 31.

I was quite disappointed by Hermes Jour d'Hermes. I usually like their fragrances, but this was not my jam at all.

For spring, I've been wearing Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil (see, I told you I do like Hermes) and Chanel No. 19.

But I am vaguely bored with my scents lately and would love to wear something with a really fresh, crisp rose note.

    Happy Friday!

  82. I'm just getting back into scent after wearing it for years, and I'm having a lot of fun exploring the "noses" behind a scent that currently intrigues me. Right now, it's Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. After reading The Perfect Scent, I had to go smell it, and I was floored. It continues to unfold each time I wear it, like a Pandora's box of pleasure! This is one instance where "celebrity scent" is not a pejorative. Thanks for the giveaway!

After years of hating it I've finally come around to understanding Bvlgari Black. It used to smell so industrial to me, but now, I can't seem to get enough of it. How lovely to fall in love with something that's actually entirely affordable. Spraying with abandon- Thanks for the draw!

My latest rediscovery has been vintage fragrances, and a big surprise love was Uninhibited by Cher. I wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be wonderful on me.

The biggest disappointment was Fleurs de Rocaille by Caron. I wanted to love this, and the florals are really nice, but on me it's like a beautiful floral bouquet in a vase full of cat pee. It was really, really unpleasant and the only fragrance I've ever had to scrub off.... or try to scrub off anyway.

My most precious find has been a lovely little bit of Coty Chypre which I will cherish and horde and use very, very sparingly. I love your blog which is gift enough for me, the giveaways are almost like gilding the lily, thanks so much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. My latest discovery is that I really love rose perfumes, as long as they are complicated in some way. It started with all of Andy Tauer's roses, but especially Incense Rose and Un Rose Chypree. I've moved on to discover Lyric, Paestum Rose, Rose Oud, Rossy de Palma, and many others.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ahhhh, Discovery: Never discount nor disgard a fragrance sample/decant/bottle you dislike as it may come back one day as a true love. My nose and tastes are constantly evolving and scents I once disliked or never appreciated have risen from the ashes as true gems. Case in point: Tabac Blond (vintage), Coromandel, Fumerie Turque (to name a few), and the Grand Dame of them all, Shalimar (vintage extrait). Hence, re-discovery and new appreciation!

Dislikes: Coco Noir, 7-Billion Hearts, endless flankers, reformulations and IFRA regs!

Is anybody else reminded of Cinema when smelling Stella absolute? Is it the amber? I cannot make up my mind about Jaipur and Jaipur Saphir and am still deeply embarrassed (not!) 'cos I love L'Instant Magic. Plus, I am going on and off Grand Amour. Wonderful. However, my biggest and newest LOVE is -- and it took me a long time to fall for it and only for the perfume version did I fall at all -- bella NAHÉMA. So divine.

  104. I'm almost embarrassed to say it is vintage Chanel #19, embarrassed because I thought I didn't like it when I was gifted this as a college student and gave it away! I absolutely can't get enough of it now. The newest discovery that is niche is SL Bois et Fruits, but seeing as how I have always loved the Shisiedo original Fem. Du Bois, it is not such a surprise as it is so very similar.

and my new discovery was "belle du soir", a collaboration (i think?) between le labo and anthropologie. i found it on sale and ordered it on a whim, and i really like it.

  107. Just purchased Houbigant quesque fleurs and quesque fleurs royale. Love them, especially the honey note in the Royale. As for recent dislike, I'm not loving the new Frederic Malle dries van noten (or whatever it is).

  108. My latest discovery is Bottega Veneta EDP - so beautiful. And recent rediscoveries are Diptyque's Oyedo (particularly the sherbety dry down that I hadn't noticed before) and Etat Libre d'Orange Divine Enfant.

My latest discovery that I know I will love this summer is Parfumeria Generale Yuzu Irata. It is crisp and light, yet complex. I received a small decant of this and I know that I will run out once we have a few days of warm weather. It's yummy and a keeper.

A major disappointment was Soivohle Tobacco and Tulle. I thought I would love it, but when I dabbed it on I got a pickled note, instead of the tobacco I was hoping for. The odd thing is, that when worn overnight, it is beautiful in the dry-down. Very soft and powdery.

    Hello Elena,
I took a divorce from my signature scent Coco Mademoiselle 3 years ago and now we are again together! This is an eternal love eventually. Now my latest discovery is Shalimar initial by Guerlain but I don´t think my body chemistry likes it. Too bad! I want desperately something spicy, floral, musky and new! With sillage power! DISLIKE: I can't go ahead with angel tierry mugler still.

I've been wearing a lot of Gucci Envy this spring. Also rediscovered PdN Odalisque, which is a really nice LotV floral to my nose. Thanks for entering me in the drawing. :-)

Just got a tiny bottle of old Fendi. Love it. I was a teenager in the 80s and for some reason this mature mesmerizing power juice never left my memory. Dr.Nini
