Swarovski Aura: Bottle Giveaway

I have a brand new bottle of Swarovski's Aura fragrance from which only 5ml have been decanted for reviewing purposes. It is eligible for readers of this site. Just put a comment in saying what would be your ideal interpretation of crystal into perfume form and you're in the draw.

Draw remains open till Thursday 26th April midnight.

  1. As a collector of vintage Swarovski crystal beads, I immediately think of heliotrope. Then I would add to it almond, Bulgarian rose, Madagascar vanilla, coffee flower, bergamot, sandalwood and musk. Okay, I don't know what I'm doing, but these sound nice together, and come to mind when I think of something crystalline. ;-)

I would choose maybe lotus, saffron, guaiac wood, maybe a raspberry or apple note and perhaps a rose.

I said anonymous but I go by kalli:).

  4. to my mind, crystal would smell something like white florals, passion fruit, white tea, cedar wood and musk

I would imagine the smell near a river: moss, soil, fungi, ozonic notes.

When I think about crystals the first image that comes to my mind is the lair of Superman with the crystals from his planetCrypton. I imagine mayby L'eau Froide by Serge Lutens or a cool cologne would suit this environment best. I am not exactly sure that this makes sense however!! Thank you for the perfume gift!!

My choice would be a classic floral aldehyde. Bulgarian Rose would be a must.

Crystal , hmmm? Aldehydes, clean musk, some light woody notes and one dash of grean notes to keep it crisp. Nothing warm.

My ideal perfume that would invoke the idea of crystal would be Aldehydes, benzoin and petitgrain.

Thanks for the blog and for the draw.

Crystal says "stone" to me, and then, a little later, goes on to suggest symmetry and the crystallographic groups... So something that smells like just after a rainshower in the summer, the smell of hot rocks in the sunlight, with a bit of wood and incense to center it.

Maybe because I'm a big lily of the valley fan, my "crystal" perfume would have a main LOV note, plus the scents of green, dirt, and cold that you get when you kneel down to sniff the flowers in spring.

  14. I think a crystal perfume would be light and icy, and maybe a little citrusy.

    Thanks for the draw!

  15. Some white flower based scent with hint of edgy spices. Or a interesting balsamic and woody fragrance. It's a little bit difficult question, as crystals are so diverse. I'd definitely choose strong, special concept instead of a light citrus scent.

  16. A crystal fragrance would have to have sparkle, like the swarovski necklace my father gave my mother (and which I now wear for special occasions). Some citrus, possibly lime, and some rose, and then a bit of vanilla to calm things a bit.

Because crystals can be any color (see Swarovski's Madison Avenue store window), I's envision a perfume encompassing purple and yellow flowers, like narcissus and sunflowers.

I would think a "crystal" fragrance would be icy and tart...definately lemon /lime and white flowers, something like a really good gin & tonic.

  19. Crystal, that's tough! I would think of white, and light/bright. Maybe orange blossom, with some sharp aldehydes behind it.

  20. Crystal smells like whatever is above and moving over the snow, like a flash, and a Mona Lisa smile for being there to see and hear.

What smells like cystal? Chanel No. 19

  22. I think it would smell of vodka and frankincense (add a hue of Ylang Ylang if it is pink crystal we are talking about).

The bottle is exquisite and the aroma - clear and yet sophisticated as real crystals are.

  24. Jen H.08:39

I'd choose iris, aldehydes, and violets.

I think it would be an aldehydic creation, and smell like snowflakes! Also, rose, jasmine, heliotrope, and musk. Thanks so much for your generous draw.

  27. When I think of crystal, I imagine crystal caverns with a humid, mineral, earthy scent.

  28. Crystal...could be a light, transparent musk, woven with fumes of cold incense...I can almost smell it! ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it would be sweet and citrus. Maybe rock candy & grapefruit-ish.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Crystal.... should be transparent in my mind. It would be something that others can read your mind when you wear that perfume.

I love Swarovski. a few years ago you all might remember they did a wonderful range of crystal tattoos and we would put them on our face, arms and belly.
In a Swarovski perfume I would want the crisp spark of cyprus and tomato leaves, the sensual delights of jasmine and amber, the high flying soar of rose stalk, geranium leaf and whisky and finish off with lactonic skanky notes, musk, iris and pine.
It would be a hot, scary, glamorous mess like a night out in Swarovski should be. With a drydown of a daylight shameful cab ride home. YAY!

  32. For me, I would say an elegant white floral chypre in the vintage style. Thank you for this draw!

First time commented, but what an awesome blog and what an awesome draw! Thanks for all the pleasure you provide into my day.

Crystal should be tingling citrus with that sparkling feeling sometimes these fragrances have or light white florals of the lily of the valley smelling variety.

    Thanks for including me!

  34. My current interpretation would be Cartier Brillante. My vintage interpretation would be Coty L'Aimant, which I liken to shattered glass.

xo and thanks for the draw!

i imagine it with yuzu on the top for citrus freshness, green tea and lotus in the middle that give sweetness and this watery-crystalline effect and musk and aldehyles in its base tah give the perfume a clean effect

Penhaligon's Violetta immediately comes to mind as a scent that captures the look and feel of crystal. It bristles and sparkles and feels icy cold, yet it's so light and clear that it comes across as prismatic.

I enjoyed reading all these comments, by the way!

What a great question! I think of sparkling depth, so of course aldehydes and citrus/bergamot top notes for sparkle, floral facets for substance (such as rose, lily of the valley and perhaps iris) and woods such as cedar for depth. Nothing to cloud it, and it must be elegant. The bottle would, of course, have crystals or reference them in some fashion.

Fleur de Crystal by Lalique or Quartz by Molyneux come to mind. Thank you for entering me into the Draw.

Musically minded: ice ice baby and cool clear water are my thoughts. Smells of celery-snap green notes, crisp citrus and a simmer down warmth of the sun vanilla fini. Funniest cab ride home; Australia!

    Crystal into perfume form:

something icy, cold, stone or even metal, but with tiny flashes of colour - rose, citrus, a bright green (verbena because I love it?) and gold - which is back to the metal, but maybe warm. Maybe it would start with cold notes & warm up, as crystals do in the hand.

  41. Diamond clear liquid scented with "mimeo graphed" paper and a hit of ink and carnation.

I suppose that a crystal perfume should smell clean, clear, sparkling, sharp, and bright. What those adjectives bring to mind, in an olfactory sense, is bergamot/neroli/orange blossom with carnation, white lillies, labdanum, white musks, orris, cool moss, cedar, and incense/frankincense ... basically an airy, white flower chypre with some sparkling aldehydes ... but, my dark crystal perfume would be abstract, sophisticated, cool, and dark. Something like vintage Paloma Picasso, maybe. I would like to smell the Swarovski Crystal juice, so enter me in the draw, please. ~danoji~
