a lucky reader ... indeed!~
ReplyDeleteI don't have a lot of experience matching a scent to a body product. I generally stick to unscented stuff and let the perfume do its thing. ;)
ReplyDeleteFantastic giveaway, good luck to all who enter!
I sometimes find that if I love a perfume, I'm not as enamored by it's soap/lotion and vice versa. For instance, I'm crazy about the scent of Maja Myrurgia soap, but the perfume does nothing for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
oh, thank you so much for the fabulous giveaway! I'm obsessed with scented soaps... my favorites are probably those by Roger and Gallet. I don't own too many matching body products though because those tend to get expensive; however Acqua Di Parma's body lotions are a treat along with their perfumes and really amplify the scent.
ReplyDeleteI adore scented body products, it was part of the reason I became obsessed with perfume so many years ago.
ReplyDeleteYves Rocher make an almond scented body lotion that layers magnificently with orientals and fougeres. I wear it with Penhaligon's Douro, it's a coumarin combo from heaven!

ReplyDeleteI never enjoyed scented body care. But it all changed when I tried Une Fleur de Cassie body butter. Love!
ReplyDeleteI find it so hard to get a good match going, and I think I'd rather spend my money on the fragrance itself...So I generally go with a completely unscented lotion and soap to start off.

Scented, absolutely! Matched, maybe not so much. Not for any good reason except maybe the habit of being contrary. One great one, when I want to moisturize before bed but don't want such a Statement Scent guiding my dreams in its stronger personal-fragrance formats: Shalimar lotion. Good stuff!
ReplyDeletei do very much like SOME scented body products to match a favorite perfume. if the execution and quality are good, a perfume and matching scented lotion combination can be lovely, and a good way of amping up the scent for some of us. and i am very fond of a quality scented soap as well.
ReplyDeletei make my own essential oil scented body oils in several different blends, so that i can choose the most complimentary one for whichever perfume i am wearing that day. i have a "chypre" one, an "oriental", and a "woods-incense" one.
do please enter me in the draw---i love lutens!
I don't match them, because when I've lotion on, I really don't feel like spraying something else on, on top of it!

ReplyDeleteI haven't tried too many scented products apart from shower get which doesn't linger so much...
ReplyDeleteBut eager to compare vintage shiseido FdB with the new version...
I love to use matching scented products or sometimes I layer different scents, right now I am loving the shower gel from Chanel Coco Noir, I love it better than the perfume.
ReplyDeleteThe only matched products I've ever really enjoyed are Gloria the (now sadly discontinued) Cacharel perfume.
ReplyDeleteThere was bath oil, body lotion and mist spray versions of the perfume, all of which emphasised a slightly different aspect of the scent. I absolutely loved them - I have a very little of each left and hoard it as I know I'll not manage to find more.
I do love when perfume companies produce ancillary products -- not for layering but for wear/use on their own. For example, Shalimar body lotion is one of my favourite sleep scents. And I was thrilled in the 80s when my beloved Diorella also came in bath gel and soap.
ReplyDeleteToday I enjoy a couple of Miller Harris scents and Le Labo Rose 31 in lotion format.
Thanks for the draw opportunity.

I haven't tried matched body products and use cold pressed almond and avocado oils instead of lotions. A scented soap can be lovely, though. A Serge Lutens scented soap... wow, who wouldn't want one? :)
ReplyDeleteI used to avoid scented products when I was wearing perfume until recently, and didn't seek out matching products.
ReplyDeleteDame Fortune helped me find an unopened and unwanted tube of Annick Goutal's "Musc Nomade" body cream in a local charity shop, and I thought it was my duty to give it a friendly home. It rewarded my kindness by being absolutely charming and gorgeous, which meant I simply had to buy its mini edp to keep it company. We are all happy together!

I usually use an unscented lotion if I am going to go with a perfume, though I do like a nice scented body butter to moisturize before I go to sleep. Thanks for the wonderful draw!
ReplyDeleteI tend to use scented creams at a different time from perfumes so I don't try to match them but I love scented soaps any time!
ReplyDeleteLondon
It's very hard to find decent soaps and body products on one fragrance. I love Creed Love in White soap-it's a mood lifter for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the draw!
Carole
I do like either matching or combining body products with my days fragrance. Love jo malone for combinations.
ReplyDeleteI usually prefer unscented products, as I'm not a morning person and choosing an outfit and a perfume is enough decision-making for me first thing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI do like matching scented body products, although sometimes I make my own lotion by mixing some of the perfume in my hand with some unscented lotion. But my all time favorite matching soap is Chanel No 5 soap, which is can luxurious treat. Youth Dew bath oil gets a lot of use in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy matching body products, only because my skin eats perfumes up so quickly. So a matching body product helps extend longevity a bit. My favorite is Frederic Malle's body butter. I've only tried Portrait of a Lady. That one was magnificent. But boy is it expensive :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Chanel 5 velvet body cream. It is definitely a comfortable, wrapped in cashmere scent. I don't layer it because I like it just by itself! Thank you for the drawing!
ReplyDeleteI use scented shower gels with such heavy hitters as Poison and Beautiful. Plus, i make my own body lotions with unscented creams and fragrance oils. Avas and Possets work well, as do attars.
ReplyDeleteJust realising that I do in fact have quite a few matching lotions and fragrances! My favourite is Bottega Veneta, the cream is not overscented, and I will wear it by itself to work then spritz when I get home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely draw...
and soap, don't even get me started!
I've never used a matched set, but I'm interested to try.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI usually use unscented lotion, and just spritz on the perfume, but when I've gotten my hands on scented lotion, I've loved it. Guerlain's Samsara lotion was very nice.
I have never tried a matched set since the lotions seem so expensive! That said, my tolerance for high prices has gone up since I've gotten more interested in the perfume, so who knows? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI do like fragrances with an matching ancillary line. My favorites have to be from Frederic Malle (bigarade concentree, vetiver extraordiaire, geranium pour Monsieur) and Chanel (Chance, coco, mademoiselle, n°5)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try the Hermes body butters/creams but they are extremely pricey IMO.
I haven't found a good scented soap, and I find that many fragrances don't benefit combined with the smell of soap. Still I would love to find one that does. This is a really nice giveaway, I love SL.
ReplyDeleteI love using body washes and lotions. Any way I can layer on my favorite fragrance the better. My favorite lines are Thierry Mugler's Alien and Chanel # 5
ReplyDeleteI have a few shower gels & body lotions that match perfumes I wear. The ones by Yves Rocher are almost scented enough to wear by themselves without the perfume. Thanks for the draw.
ReplyDeleteI don't tend to use scented body products, because I have very sensitive skin and its difficult to tell if my skin will react. I would rather spend my money on perfume :)
ReplyDeleteI like specific products, but I don't layer. Aromatics Elixir soap is only available at the holidays in a gift set. It is euphoric! EA Blue Grass deodorant is great. I have a soft spot for EL Youth Dew body powder because I wore it in high school. I love those old powder puff canisters, anyway. This is a great draw. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI had never used any shower gel or soap matching my perfume, till last week when I tried Nina, by Nina Ricci.... Loved it!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope to be one of those lucky ones who can try your special gifts.
Thanks!
Some fragrances are so fleeting that I use matching lotion, shower gel or soap to enjoy the fragrance longer. I make my own lotion, body butter, shower gel and add some of the precious perfume. I also enjoy soaping and tried to add perfume, but tat endeavour was not very successful:)
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like for anything to compete with my perfume, but I do really enjoy Versace Blonde soap.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a wonderful fragrance & strong, too. After a bath, not only do I smell great, so does the bathroom.
I wish it weren't discontinued & I'll truly miss it when my supply is exhausted.
I love scented shower and body products, and am always trying new ones. My favourites so far have been AdP Iris Nobile, Amouage Lyric and Goutal's Ambre Fetiche- which lasts all day and smells divine.
ReplyDelete-Lynley
I always use scented soaps but have never tried a Serge Lutens soap--as I have not seen them available. I use unscented body lotion so that it doesn't conflict with my perfume. At one time I used to have all body products of my favorite perfumes but that became too expensive. However, I do love special soaps and purchase them at times. I find that they last a long time. Thanks for this opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried but hope I am lucky enough to get the chance.
ReplyDeleteFor years I was a devotee of the Chanel No.19 body products. The lotion especially was my go to scent. Then I discovered Diptyque's line of bath and body products and those became my favorite products to use.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to try new things!
Of course I enjoy matching scented beauty products. :D (are there people who don't?!) ;)
ReplyDeleteFavorite? Now that is a difficult one...
But as it's summer, I'll go with Bronze Goddess shimmer oil and perfume.
I don't go out of my way to match but when I get gift sets I will use all the aditional products in the box.
ReplyDeleteThis year I received Belanciaga fragrance & body cream, which is fabulously fragranced.
Am also working my way through Flowerbomb shower gel & Jo malone Lime Basil & Mandarin bath oil which is divine.
Please enter me in the draw as I love Lutens & am intrigued by the thought of a fragranced soap
I don't use scented body lotions, I find they don't moisturize as well as I would like. However, I do enjoy the effect I get from layering something by Lush that is vaguely citrusy with Sonoma Scent Studio Jour Ensoleillé.
ReplyDeleteI prefer unscented body products-so as not to interfere with my perfume
ReplyDeleteOn very hot days, when I decide not to apply fragrance, I enjoy very much Roger & Gallet's products
thanks for the draw
Iris Poudre body cream is so luscious to use. When I worked for Chanel in the 90's I was completely smitten by the Chanel 5 body cream. Both are so enveloping. I love Feminité de Bois !
ReplyDeleteI love scented shower products! My favourite ever was Korres Bitter Almond, sadly discontinued. I also have a Amouage Shower Gel that smells heavenly. A tad bit expensive, but it lats for ages.
ReplyDeleteI had this matching set only once. It was Nina Ricci´s perfume Deci-Dela and matching body milk. I really loved it. Unfortunately I was too restrained using it everyday, so the body milk lost its lovely scent and turned into a stinky liquid :-( Veni from Prague
ReplyDeleteI prefer not to use scented body lotion...from what I have experienced they are a bit heavy. I much prefer to use the perfume itself.
ReplyDeleteI love scented body lotions, soups and perfumes! but I never tried matching sets :D
ReplyDeletecookiesmasher5@yahoo.com
Yes, Elena...I always begin my qwest by purchasing the lotion, bath oil and soap of a fragrance to try it out.
ReplyDeleteIn the past, (before I owned my own fragrance lab) I was a devoted follower of Jo Malone. My favorite Jo Malone fragrance: Verbenas de Provence, was discontinued many years ago.
Currently I wear my own custom fragrance and use my own soap and bath oil. It's fun to go into my lab and mix up whatever my heart desires!
I love using Frédéric Malle's Carnal Flower perfume and body butter together.
ReplyDeleteI love scented body products, particularly if I can have a lotion that matches my perfume. Nothing is more decadent than Chanel No5 perfume layered over the bath oil. Bliss! Thank you for this draw!
ReplyDeleteRecently I started using Lush's Karma soap and now I'm obsessed with finding a patchouli scent to wear afterwards. I find Karma perfume a bit harsh though... I do like Crabtree&Evelyn Iris lotion with all my iris scents!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of skin allergies so I'm lucky enough to wear perfume, I don't push it with body lotions. I do, however, LOVE to layer perfumes.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the draw! I love scented soaps because they provide a "hit" of fragrance whenever I use them during the day -- my favourites are the rose and lavender ones by Fragonard. I am still saving my last bars that I bought when I visited the factory in Grasse.
ReplyDeleteI was given a Chanel no. 5 body lotion which I use occasionally. I like it much better than the perfume, but I was never really a fan. In lotion form the scent is much easier for me to wear.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a lot of bar soaps, but I have a few of the Roger et Gallet soaps that are so pretty to look at. I do use a liquid soap version of Shalimar Light that I love. It never fails to make my shower just a little nicer. I also love the moisturizer that went with it, but I haven't seen it in a long time. As an ardent fan of Serge Lutens fragrances, I'd love to see what they do with soap (and I am ever the sucker for miniatures!). Please include me in the draw, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have mixed feelings about matching products, and I guess It would depend on the product. I love Serge Lutens fragrances, so please include me. Thanks you
ReplyDeleteI have so many scents I quit buying matched items but I do still have Opium body cream (the original) and Angel body cream. It's potent stuff. No need for any perfume if you wear this one. I finished my Angel perfume ....no need to buy more with the body cream.
ReplyDeletethanks for the great draw. what a treat ! sometimes if i love something i will use it in two different forms. but its fun to mix and match also. thanks again for the great draw !!
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome giveaway! I've never gone out of my way to match scented products, but if I did I would go for Bath & Body Works. They're relatively inexpensive, have a wide range of fragrances, and the majority of them come in lotion, spray, and shower gel.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the scent, but there are a number of perfumes where I love the matching body products, especially the Amouage line, Guerlain Insolence, Hermes 24 Faubourg, and I also love Providence Perfume Company's Orange Blossom body oil for layering under many of my favorite orange blossom perfumes. I also use DSH's Parma Violet body oil and shower gel to layer under many of violet fragrances.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the draw!
Ooo, a draw! Good luck everyone! Scented bath and body products are a lovely extravagance--alas, the budget won't allow it any more. So I use unscented products that won't clash with my perfumes. But the Bulgari Green and White tea shampoos and body washes were memorably, wonderfully luxurious. Chanel Coco Mademoiselle in lotion form was preferable to the EdT, on me (less peppery, with a softer sillage). And I once had a neroli shower gel (Italian manufacturer--I've forgotten the name) that was bottled bliss.
ReplyDeleteI have a few perfumes for which I have a matching lotion or soap. My favorite is Luctor et Emergo. I have the scented creme, which is so nicely perfumed, it can be worn by itself.
ReplyDeleteI don't usually match them. The last scented lotion I purchased was actually a bath gel ... Bandit. A Serge Lutens one sounds lovely. Thank you for the draw. And good luck to everyone.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy scented/matched body products especially when they are complementary. Sometimes the scented body products that accompany a fragrance don't always match in scent or quality. I have a few that I was able to find that had matching lotions, but I cannot decide on an absolute favorite; although, Kiehl's vanilla & cedarwood match nicely.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the giveaway!
I don't have many scented products though I do like the Bottega Veneta lotion I'd gotten in a christmas set. I still remember (and wish I still had!) a Chanel 19 set with EDT, soap and scented powder. I never see powders anymore.
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed scented body products (particularly soaps!). However, I've never liked body products that are supposed to match a proper fragrance (if I own the fragrance, that is), because side by side the body products are never quite the same. I would rather have a wonderful smelling soap and leave it at that--no need to match!
ReplyDeleteI've seldom found a soap that matched any of the perfumes that I've used but I would certainly love to try out a good one. Usually I buy good quality soaps with very little scent so that they don't fight with the scent I'm wearing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love scented body products, especially if they couple with a certain perfume. And I almost always look for a coupling when buying such things. However, sometimes it's too much, like I did once with Delices pp and its body lotion - it made me dizzy! I don't have particular favorite, but vanilla- and citrus- centered products always work on me this way.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the draw!
I loved Carnation soap by Roger & Gallet, I matched it to my Bellodgia by Caron. Can't find it anymore…..
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone!
periafro9 @ yahoo.com
I do like scented body products and can't resist beautifully perfumed soaps (just check my airing cupboard) but I find I don't use lotions fast enough - they end up going stale on me, which is such a sad waste. Also, I'm a bit of a perfume ho - I never wear the same thing from one day to the next, so I'd end up with my bathroom overflowing with all the matching extras. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo far I've never used body products that matches my perfume, I've heard a lot of good things about the Amouage, Malle and Chanel body products, so maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteI like to mix and match. I find most products from perfume lines way overpriced for the quality.. I prefer etailer lotions and use scents that suit the perfume I am going to wear.
ReplyDeleteMy deodorant is an unscented crystal as not to interfere with lotion/perfume.
I, too, am wary about potentially overpowering layers of the same scent - or worse, unharmonious layers - but a scented soap, if done well, is a pleasure. In fact so far I have preferred to hide soap in my clothes rather than use it but I am getting lots of good ideas here and may branch out to scented moisturizer. I also like Roger & Gallet, they have - or had - a subtle lemon or bergamot soap that would go very well with castle Forbes Special reserve Neroli scent.
ReplyDeleteChanel used to make a Cristalle lotion (though the soap smelled strangely cheap, like public bathroom soap); I used to love the EdT but it's just too strong for me now, even a drop clings to skin and hair for days and even defies dry cleaning. However the lotion may do the trick for me.
I am crazy about scented soap and have about 5 bars going at a time. I haven't had as much luck with other products because they are sort of hard to fins so I generally use unscented moisturizers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for having this giveaway. Such Fun!!
All my shower, moisturizing products are scented, Unscented shower gel or body lotion for me does half the job. Never tried to combine them with a perfume though. If I do it I propably won't go for exactly the same scent. Maybe a complimentary one to add a twist and originality.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had many opportunites to use matching body products. Mostly because my fragrances simply don't come in another form. Long ago Chanel had a Christalle soap. It was out of reach at the time - I'd love to try it now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the draw - Caragh
