A woman loves...: Vintage Advertising Champions 1

A woman loves the sweet scent of green leaves,
wood crackling in the fire,
the fragrance of talcum-powdered babies,
spicy things,
incense
and salty air.
While enchantment to him is a woman in Shalimar.
Men are more romantic.

From a vintage 1964 Guerlain advertisement of a woman and man shown nose to nose in profile for their Shalimar perfume.

Oooo - the options for sarcasm are too great - I need a lie-down.

(mind you, a little green graffitti in the form of snot...)

  2. I find it funny that I should read this post today when my boyfriend applied what seems to be a scrubber on him and then used a baby wipe to wipe it off, and the only thing I had in my bag to offer him as improvement was Shalimar which he then promptly applied.
I didn't tell him it was Shalimar though. :)

  4. ines,

that's uncanny. Ha! Clever of you!

To be frank with you, I guess the way masculine frags have become increasingly sweet lately, a feminine oriental such as Shali doesn't really sound alien to them and femme-otherworldly. [This can be both a good and a bad thing!]

  5. Now that you said alien, I should add that he first applied (without prior sniffing) Mugler's Pure Malt which actually smelled like mildew on him. :)
I can' tell you how happy it made me that he went with Shalimar.
