The new perfume, 5th in the Guerlain series "Les Voyages Olfactives" (Olfactory Journeys), is dedicated to Shanghai, a Chinese metropolis which was also the background on which the venerable Vetiver pour Elle sprang from (hence its duty-free original distribution).
Guerlain Shanghai is composed by in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser and is noted for its freshness and delicacy which are the hallmarks of the collection.
Guerlain Shanghai is a woody floral scent comprising fragrant notes of anise, orange blossom, almond, cardamom, ylang-ylang, jasmine, iris, mimosa, cedarwood, patchouli, vanilla and sandalwood.
The bottle is designed by the legendary designer Serge Mansau depicting Shanghai's famous Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower.
The new Guerlain fragrance will be available in 100 ml in Eau de Parfum concentration.

Sure sounds interesting - hope it comes my way!
ReplyDeleteM,
ReplyDeleteit's another "boutique" scent, which means you'll probably have to order a sample and then order by phone if you like it.
At least that's how it's done in those cases. Annoying, isn't it. But there you have it.
Did you by any chance ask the Thessaloniki boutique if they have it now? I going for a couple of weeks and a visit is mandatory!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the quote, Helg! I made a mistake though - I wrote 75 ml, but it's 100 ml. I have changed that on my site, www.monsieurguerlain.com
ReplyDeleteLove the notes-particularly the anise, orange blossom, patchouli and sandalwood. The bottle is stunning too! A shame that it is not so easily accessible.
ReplyDeleteCurious about the other four-Paris,Moscow, Ny and London
Maria,
ReplyDeletenot yet, but they do have the rest, so why not that one? I do believe however that it will take perhaps a month or so (usually releases arrive in Greece in September, not smack in the middle of August).
A visit is worthwhile definitely. Please do ask them for me if they still stock Vetiver pour Elle; I'm interested in another bottle.
U,
ReplyDeletethank you, you're invaluable, as you well know. :-) It's only fair to credit where credit is due. ;-)
I have updated with the correct size info. Thanks for saying it!
Brie,
ReplyDeleteI always pay attention to anything with anise, it's a rather unusual note and I love it when mixed in a fragrance (perhaps it's reminding me of vacations in the Med, that's why?)
It sounds good, though I'm irked by the exclusive and $$ aspects of it all. This is probably the bottle design I prefer from the whole Voyages series. Don't ask me why. :-D
If you love anise then you MUST try Reglisse Noire by the indie brand 1000 Flowers. I had never been a big fan of anise but I bought a small bottle to support the perfumer who was in desperate financial need and I figured I would gift it to my mum. However, upon first whiff I was hooked and changed my mind about anise. Needless to say I bought 5 more bottles for reserve. Reglisse Noire is happiness in a bottle and I implore you to try it :)
ReplyDelete*jotting down to try Reglisse Noire by 1000flowers*
ReplyDeleteThanks brie!!
