The more spice the better! Bring it on! Cinnamon, saffron, ginger, anise - I love spice. I've never tried Eau d'Epices, but I'd sure love to, based on how much I like Andy's other perfumes.

ReplyDeleteI am very curious about this. I just ordered my first Tauer discovery pack, after having read about his perfumes (masterpieces?) for years. I can't wait to smell what all the fuss is about and would love to try this as well. I adore spicy and woodsy perfumes. Add vanilla and I'm in heaven (I usually do this myself with ecco bella vanilla lotion or tihota). A few spicy perfumes I admire: chaos, organza indecence, trayee, tam dao. Thank you for the draw! ReplyDeleteI love Eau d'Epices and my sample has run out so would love to win one. I found this scent a bit difficult on my first two wears but I sprayed it on my partner and it was heavenly. So then I tried it on myself and I loved it as well. Sometimes with Andy's perfumes it can take a couple of wears to really get them - they are quite complex. This is definitely a spice bomb (and nothing like the comparatively wimpy Viktor & Rolf namesake).

ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for spicy-sweet scents--anything spicy always appeals to me because they make me feel warm and remind me of foods I like. I've only tried a couple of Tauer scents, but Une Rose Chypree is one of the few rose scents that I really like, so that's definitely a sign that I should try more from the line!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE spicy perfumes! My favorite spice is perhaps anise but I love them all, clove, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper!! <3 I have tried only a few Tauer scents. Noontide Petals didn't really impress me, but I'm not very fond of aldehydes. L'Air du Desert Marocain left me wanting more, more spice, deeper amber, more warmth... ultimately I wasn't satisfied. But I love Lonestar Memories, that is one mighty leather, warm, dark, harsh and intriguing! And I do wonder what a spicy scent by Tauer would be like!

ReplyDeleteI'm so sad that the local perfume shop that carried Andy Tauer's perfumes closed recently. I was lucky to be able to sample and buy his perfumes locally. My favourite is Une Rose Chypree which smells like a real chypre. Tauer perfumes blend traditional classic perfume structures and folmulae with a modern twist. That's why I like and admire them so much.

ReplyDeleteI loved Incense Rose and Une Rose du Khandahar, I'm not sure if it's the inclusion of ambergris in Rose du Khandahar but it has incredible power - perfect for an evening perfume when you want your perfume to have a little more impact.

I love spice in perfume (I wore Opium for years), although I dislike anything too heavy with pepper, black or pink. Spicebomb was unbearable, but Roberto Cavalli Oro, which some people describe as quite spicy, seems just beautifully warm and smooth to me. Spice plus orange blossom sounds heavenly. I've won a couple of samples here recently, so I don't know if it would be sporting of me to enter the draw. I will definitely have to order a Tauer sample set one of these days.

My favourites in his line are Une Rose Chypree and Noontide Petals, but I also really like Phi, which has a strong cinnamon note on me. Other spices I enjoy in perfume are coriander, cardamom, the beautiful nutmeg in Houbigant's Oranger en Fleurs and the chili in Amouage's Fate.

I do like notes of spices in my perfumes. I especially like them in men's fragrances, as nothing is sexier than a spicy scent on a man in my opinion. I was recently at a niche shop about an hour from where I live trying to find an Andy Tauer fragrance to test, but unfortunately they did not carry any. I am excited for this chance. Thank you

ReplyDeleteI love everything spicy and I find Andy Tauer's work fascinating. I don't always love his scents but I can always appreciate the artistry behind them. I also find that if a perfume with a lot of spice seems too harsh or masculine for me, layering it with a basic vanilla, like Ateliers Vanille Insensee or Indults Tihota sort of rounds it out and makes it much more wearable. I have always love spicy perfumes and as for Tauer's line I'm pretty fascinated by most of his creations because they are unique and distinctive in their own ways. I can't quite relate most of them to any other perfume that I have tested or worn which is amazing!

ReplyDeleteHello Elena, my first time commenting on here, but this draw has really prompted me to stop being so shy and officially de-lurk! (Please be gentle with me...).
ReplyDeleteI love spice-laden fragrances. I recently went to a great deal of trouble to procure the Andy Tauer discovery set (10mls each of Incense Rose, Une Rose Chypree, and L'Air du Desert Marocain) - I live in the Southern Balkans, in Montenegro, and my boss luckily enough lives in Geneva so I was able to get the set delivered to his address and he brought it down last week....
Anyway, I am slowly getting acquainted with them, only having read about these perfumes on Fragrantica and Basenotes, and boy, am I in love! Une Rose Chypree has really surprised me, because it seems as if Andy has tried to construct a chypre using an accord that relies on dusty dry Mediterranean herbs and spices such as bay and cinnamon, rather than relying on oakmoss - there is oakmoss there I believe, but to my nose, the bitter/resin element in the axis relies more on those pungent herbs/spices than oakmoss for the slinky, green, slightly astringent feel. It is astounding, and very, very spicy. Incense Rose and LÁDDM are also spectacular I should add! I would love to try the Eau DÉpices, pretty please! I am curious about that one too. Choosing three of his fragrances for the discovery set was agonizing, let me tell ya!
Other spice fragrances I enjoy are: Omnia (gentle saffron-cardamon accord built on a man's aftershave note) - I wear this one to bed, it is so gentle, un-sweet, and like a cup of chai, Chanel Coco (but I have to mentally commit to it, because it is an all-day, all-encompassing affair), L'Heure Bleue (gentle anice and cloves), Mitsouko (a pan of poisonous peaches simmering in formaldehyde spiked with cloves), Serge Lutens Fille En Anguilles (Christmas spiced wine and pine), Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay (very gently spiced but in an unsweet English fashion that is bracing rather than cloying), and Aromatics Elixir (well....where to start with THAT witchy brew).
Sorry for the essay -what can I say, it's my first time and once you get me started, you can't get me "stopped". Love your site, by the way - I have learned so much going through your archives.
Spiced perfumes, Nice! To me, the best spiced perfume by far (though it has much more than just spices) is, of course, Andy Tauer’s L'Air Du Désert Marocain, but I love many many more of Andy’s scents (Incense Rosé and Incense Extrême are beautiful). Another excellent spiced perfume is Creed's Baie de Genievre… in addition to juniper berries, it has cinnamon leaves and clove (the word “cinnamon” was originally included in the scent’s name, as it was called “Baie de Genievre Feuilles de Canneliers”); it’s not a very well known scent, but it’s wonderful. ReplyDeleteI'm a perfume beginner and have been surprsed to find myself drawn to spicy scents! I used to like the typical fruity florals, but now I really enjoy the dimensions that spices add. I'm in Canada.

Spicy scents are one of my favorites. I have great respect and admiration for Andy Tauer and his incredible gifts. L'Air du Desert Marocain is a personal favorite. I am enraptured with star anise--my parrots have pieces of them in their fresh mix and the aroma is exquisite. Any scent with spice and/or incense is a must-try for me!

ReplyDeleteI am quite a fan of Tauer's artistic work, with my still enjoying Lonestar and L'air du Desert Marocain. Living in the USA I would greatly enjoy sampling the reintroduction of Eau d'Epices.

ReplyDeleteFor me, florals without at least a touch of spice miss the mark. Half and half is a good proportion in my book, or even mostly spice with just a touch of floral. I'd be interested to try this.

ReplyDeleteI've never tried anything for Tauer's offerings, so I'm game. I love spices in my food, cardamon, anise, vanilla, coriander... and the one spicy perfume I have loved most was Kenzo Jungle (elephant bottle). I'm in Europe.

ReplyDeleteYes yes, spice please! Cinnamon, coriander, pepper, cumin, anise, saffron, nutmeg, cocoa! Egoiste is a favorite, but I wear lots of fragrances with spice notes. But I never tried a Tauer fragrance... something to look forward to!

The only Tauer fragrance I have tried was Incense Rose - a sample from a friend. So far, I haven't found any stores that carry any of his scents, so I would love a sample. We are going to Europe in May (Netherlands, hopefully Paris, probably Athens, then Iceland on the way home) and I will be doing some hunting. I live in Alberta Canada, where the temperature has been in the

ReplyDeleteI love the animalic sauciness of Tauer's Orange Star, another one of his spicy scents. I find in my old age I have become quite a spice girl: Opium, Theorema, Cinnabar, Black Cashmere -- you name a spice scent, I have it and wear it. Please enter me in the draw. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI haven't found a spicy scent that wasn't either too peppery or too sweet and I haven't sampled many Tauers. The two I have tried were Lonestar Memories (scrubber for me) and Loretta (divine) so I really haven't developed an opinion about his line. I really need to test more.

Spicy fragrances have to be very carefully balanced to make it into my fragrance wardrobe. There have been several good ones I have been lucky enough to come across though. Mr. Tauer's is not one I have tried yet, but I would very much love to based on his other scents! I am in the US.

I'd just gotten the Tauer sample set and am having fun trying them out. Big love for Une Rose Chypre and Une Rose de Kandahar, so distinctive and lovely. Very exciting chance to try Eau d`Epices!

ReplyDeleteWhat happened to my post?:( Just disappeared? I wrote about how Body Shop used to have single note perfume oils in different spices and how mixing them would create unique and lovely spicy scents.... and the beauty of Dubai based perfume oils in different spices...
