Elizabeth Taylor: 1932-2011

"Something wonderful is about to happen"
~Elizabeth Taylor

The Violet Eyes of Hollywood have closed for eternity this very morning. A breed apart, a tough cookie, a smart entrepreneur with the most successful celebrity scent line of them all and the last of a very different kind of star. May she rest in peace.

Very sad news. She was a Hollywood icon like no other and we won't see her like again. A beautiful and feisty woman! Thank you for this lovely tribute.

  2. Yes, RIP. Happy though that we can still visit her through her many wonderful films

  3. Dearest D,

indeed, my darling. She epitomised old Hollywood style and glamour.
From that lot, only Dunaway remains, sadly a shadow of her former self due to all the "work" done on her.

    End of an era...

  4. C,

she has an impressive, nuanced and very worthwhile filmography. Apart from the glamour hussy she was also a consumate actress. Her turn in Suddendly Last Summer for instance is hard to forget.

  8. Oh Elizabeth was glorious. Can someone explain to me why her perfumes are so incredibly long lasting yet a Chanel isn't?

    1. I can hazard the guess that since Liz's scents are made on US soil they don't absolutely have to adjust to EU rules on concentration of potential allergens, whereas Chanel's do. (?)
