What brightens my day is anything positive what happens in relation to my doggie, family, my son who lives not with me or simply sunshine or lovely pefume. Thanks for entering me - Alica - alica@cleis.net
ReplyDeleteWhat brightens my day? My kids cheer me up considerably, though there are days when I need a break, even from them. In those situations, either quiet and alone-itude will brighten things up. Once I've found my center, or when quiet alone time is impossible, usually my "favorites" playlist does the trick. If not, there's always a sleeping pill and a dark room. ;)

A good joke. A cup of coffee. A beautiful scent. A smile. A kind gesture. A flirtation. Some unexpected sunshine. Sitting in the woods with our dog. Happy children.
ReplyDeletewhat brightens my day? my love for perfume world and the joy of smelling a new fragrance
ReplyDeleteIt's rainy and gray in Boston this morning, but I lingered over my perfume choices a bit longer than usual this morning trying to find the perfect scent for such a day. Today I chose Coromandel, with its huge patchouli note, and it was just the thing I needed to make today brighter!
ReplyDeleteA good cup of coffee and a fresh baked croissant in he morning... yum! and picking your scent for that day.
ReplyDeleteUnexpected communication from someone I haven't spoken with in a long time brightens my day... or when my 4 year-old twin nephews hug me just "because"... or when I get a whiff of something great smelling... I think the unexpected, unrequested things always give me a shot in the arm - just like sunshine.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that our newly adopted dog getting along famously with our other dog. Watching the chickens in the backyard. Reading blog posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering me!
As long as I've managed to get some sleep, the night before, I am good to go, no matter the weather.
ReplyDeleteI have been dying to try Puredistance!
These sound lovely...
ReplyDeleteNothing brightens my day like coming downstairs to discover my significant other has already made my morning cup of tea for me. It's really the little gestures... :)
I already got to try Antonia thanks to PST, but would love to try the other two as well! I'm in Boston too and this day indeed needs some brightening. Which reminds me I haven't sprayed any perfume yet! But the tuberose stems I bought the other day are still wafting.
ReplyDeleteSound of children's laughter as they play, great first cup of coffee in the morning, husband bringing home donuts first thing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteMy first cup of coffee, my son playing his bass, my husband's smile, picking my scent for the day...these are things that brighten my day!
ReplyDeleteSpraying The Different Company Osmanthus in a sunday morning is really uplifting, I love that and on monday morning my husband making breakfast for me.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend's smile, my parents' hugs, seeing my parakeets (budgerigars) kissing each other and my zebra finchers playing on their swings, knowing interesting and nice new people, receiving a parcel I've been waiting, wearing the perfect scent in the right moment... all these things brighten my day.
ReplyDeletetoday (friday) is a good day for me.
ReplyDeletethe sun shine all day long. but if my day is not so good, i usually listen to the musik in my ipod and/ or sniff my wrist (when i was in class)
What brightens my day is a kiss from my toddler and the smell of my coffee brewing!
ReplyDeleteMany things can brighten a day for me: Teaching, when it goes well; the excitement my dog Jelly Bean displays when I get home; the smell of my wife's perfume; the smell of my wife sans perfume; a great bottle of wine; a quote that makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteMy wonderful friends make my every day bright. Yesterday I had the pleasure to sit down to a laid breakfast table and enjoy freshly brewed tea. They had even taken my medicine pills and put them beside my plate. The dosage was way wrong, but still it brought out a smile.

Lots of things - in the last few days it has been the sun shining, the beautiful scent of Daphne 'Jacqueline Postill' wafting on the air in the garden, snowdrops and the promise of Spring.
ReplyDeleteToday is my birthday, and yes, it has always been a challenge to brighten it up at this gray time of year.
ReplyDeleteWhat brightens my day is the knowledge that spring is only a few days away (counting it as beginning the first of March...much more accurate for my area, and more psychologically satisfying...). Taking a walk outside and seeing the bulb flower foliage popping up through the moist soil, breathing in that bright and bitter early spring smell, tinged with the chill of late winter....
And wearing the sadly underrated By Kilian Prelude to Love. How are others not smelling that smooth, yet raspy, iris, by turns chilly and warm, brightened by a juicy and sweet citrus melange? It so perfectly expresses spring's hesitant exuberance. Love, love, love it.
Your post has brightened my day! I've been wanting to try these, they get great reviews from everyone. My silly, sweet dog also cheers me up.
ReplyDeleteThe pleasure of being able to 'think' about what brightens my day - and then to be able to articulate it. I just spent a little bit of time at my dad's nursing home and, once again, it has engendered a gratitude for my mental and physical health.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, the ability to enjoy my life - my dogs, the return of the cardinals...the wonderful, little things!

The local yoga studios offered a 28 day challenge-all the youga you can stand, at all the locations, for $50. These studios are small and each is independantly owed, so it's a considerable scrifice on their part to get we Canadians off the couch! I feel like I have re awakened long dormant mucscles, and I feel a bit more calm than usual.
ReplyDeleteWill you please enter me in the draw?
Thank you, and have a good weekend,
Carole MacLeod
No alarm clock, followed by a full breakfast of eggs, mushrooms, and dry-cured fat bacon. A cup of extra strong Guatemalan magarogype coffee, the papers and a walk with the dog. The perfect start to the day!
ReplyDeleteThe things that make my dismal days brighter...a shout from my son. "You're the most beautiful mommy in the world!". Seeing - and feeling! - sunlight warm my face for the first time since September. Laughing with my best (male) friend over a latte - and laughing later on my own at the memory! Writing something that turned out better than I hoped for - on the fourth try. Being asked "What perfume are you wearing?" And being able to say: "The one that makes me happy - this day, this moment, this beautiful instant in time!"
ReplyDeleteMy OH brightens my day by bringing me morning tea and making wise-cracks until I wake up.
ReplyDeleteHe's a star.

I live in the Great Lakes region of the US & in the winter it's overcast for sometimes weeks. Any time I see the sun, my day is brightened both literally and spiritually! On a daily basis, no matter what the weather brings, listening to music is a source of joy, always.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been taking more time to spend together, and just enjoy one another's company without doing something like watching TV, or working on chores or projects. We've been talking, laughing, playing games, and just enjoying our romance. Sometimes it's hard to find time, but it's been so worth it - we're both a lot happier, and enjoying one another more.
ReplyDeleteKindness, puppies, good weather, and getting to play with my perfumes
ReplyDeleteMy husband's affection and my flowers. Simple pleasures. And of course, my perfumes. Nothing is perfect if it doesn't come with a scent.

ReplyDeleteAny unexpected happy event, no matter how small, can brighten my day considerably. Especially those that involve family and friends. Fragrance-related? That brings a smile to may face just thinking about it.

My cat's nose on my cheek. My husband's smile. My perfume.
ReplyDeletethe thought of spring approaching
ReplyDeleteI live on the Central Coast of California, and the weather has been all over the place lately. But, the birds think that it's Spring. So, what brightens my day is birdsong. Makes me smile every time I hear it.
ReplyDeleteThe other day my two year old nephew laid on top of me on the hammock, saw a scratch on my face and asked "hurt, hurt, Aunt DD? kiss it?", and then he kissed it.
