Byredo Palermo: new fragrance

The abundantly rich history of Palermo, capital of Sicily, is captured in the new fragrance by Swedish niche brand ByRedo:

"With clacking oars the Phoenicians arrived millennia ago to found their center of ancient exchange. Under golden Roman yoke the port gained gleaming palaces and mosaics. Ostrogoths, Vandals, and Byzantines alternately wrecked and rebuilt. Moorish and Berber emirs dug irrigation and harvested new fruits – the Bergamot oranges they planted still grow. Norman kings wrested the island back from the East. Garibaldi's thousand redshirts galloped through, and Italy was born. All those centuries of interleaved layers, one bled into the other, remain palpable in the air, the water, the art, the architecture, the spirit. Our "Palermo" opens with Bigarade and Sicilian Bergamot. The heart consists of Fresh Musks and Rose Absolute and reveals a base of Skin Musks and Ambrette Flower."
Sounds just the thing for summer, doesn't it?

    Palermo, is where my grandparents were born. Makes me think that it should smell of tomato sauce and orange blossom.

    It's always tough to tell just from reading the notes, but I think this one would be beautiful. I haven't tried any of the Byredo scents yet, but they're on my "to sniff" list.

    This sounds fantastic! I really like ByRedo- though they are bringing out a lot of scents- but when you are new I guess you do. Can't wait to try!

    The opening line of "With clacking oars..." actually made me laugh a bit for some reason. However, this does sound good; a hint of rose with the citrus makes it stand out in concept from the surplus of bigarade-based scents, I think. I'm looking forward to trying Rosine Rosissimo also for another take on citrus-rose.

    I do wish Byredo would bottle in smaller sizes, but I guess these are made for splitting. I'm anxious to try this and I thought La Tulipe was well done.
