I can understand the image of a rainforest on a particularly hot day, but "bois torride" does not bring that to mind initially. Even in French it sounds awkward.

And yes, Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3792393342962796253.post-19023108771699135412009-07-09T17:39:21.368+01:002009-07-09T17:39:21.368+01:00N,

Bois in French also stands for woods, ie.forest, so "torrid forest" which is less naughty ;-)
I believe that most perfume consumers think anything sounds better in French (it doesn't FWIW), if we take into consideration that tons of brands with no possible leg in the land of 5000 cheeses do it Perfumeshrinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06222733129203280662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3792393342962796253.post-17050449486391649842009-07-09T17:36:41.731+01:002009-07-09T17:36:41.731+01:00K,

Am I the only one who thinks Bois Torride...Dear E,

Am I the only one who thinks Bois Torride is pretty much the most hilarious perfume name ever? Perhaps because I am not a native french-speaker I am missing something that makes this name makes sense. The translation would be "torrid wood"? That's just funny and makes me think of the title of a bodice-ripper novel.
